How do different cultures conceptualize emotions?

By analyzing large bodies of online and historical text, we found three dimensions that modern and historical cultures around the world use to describe emotions. These dimensions are valence (positive vs. negative), social impact (how much the emotion affects others), and rationality (cognitive vs. emotional).
